Italy was never known for being a big hiphop nation but 2017 was something like the start of a new era. Dozens of new Italian rapper came out of nowhere and the scene is getting bigger and bigger. Today we’ll show you the five most important ones in Italian Rap 2018.
1. Capo Plaza
Capo Plaza was born in 1998 and he’s considered to be one of the greatest talents in Italian rap at the moment. He’s based in Salerno and had a very successful year despite not releasing an album in 2017. His video series Allenamento one to three managed to collect millions of clicks and his latest single Giovane Fuoriclasse was probably the final breakthrough. The Newcomer started rapping in 2013 and has a contract with the label Pepe Socks.

2. Laioung
The 25 year old Laioung is one of the most interesting characters in Italian hiphop. He was in born in Bruxelles and has lived in the United Kingdom, Italy and Canada. The special thing about him is the fact that he’s making music in Italian, French and English at the same time. Even his singing voice is incredible, you can find a video of him at the red bull studios HERE. Laioung is also the leader of the Italian rap group RRR Mob releasing an album in 2017 called Nuovo impero.

3. Sfera Ebbasta
Sfera Ebbasta is one of the first Italian rappers who brought new school rap to the map in Italy. The 25 year old started doing music in 2011 and had his big breakthrough in 2015 with the free download album XDVR. The Def Jam signing did open the door for many Italian rap artists who became successful in the last two years. He dropped a brand new project called Rockstar in January 2018, check it out HERE.

4. Gue Pequeno
Gue pequeno is already 37 years old and a name in the Italian rap scene since 1997. He’s one of the rare rapper who went with the time and releases hiphop state of the art 2018. The rap veteran is based in Milano and like Sfera Ebbasta is under contract with Def Jam. His latest album is called Gentleman and was released in 2017.

5. Ghali
Last but not least is Ghali and maybe the most successful one at the moment. The 25 year old could collect almost 350’000’000 views on his youtube videos and is a very big star in Italy. He’s also based in Milano and his label is called Sto Records. With over 1’000’000 sold records he’s one of the best selling Italian artists in recent years across all genres.
